5 Lessons Every Dad Must Teach His Son About Lust

Lesson #5…

The 10:13 Principle:

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

There is no stronger, inspiring, life changing verse in all the Bible.  I believe that dad’s should teach their sons to memorize, stand on, trust in and believe every single word of this verse.  The life changing promises for your son in this verse are… 1)  You are not alone, other boys (your friends) are struggling with lust 2)  God will not give you more than you can handle  3)  God ALWAYS provides a way out.

Lesson #4…

Say NO To Masturbation: This can be a very controversial subject.  There are strong arguments on both sides of the fence, but I am here to tell you that masturbation can lead a young boy to a dark, secretive, out of control addiction.  I struggled with this as a child and into my young adult years and it will destroy your kids’ lives.  Don’t shame your boys, threaten them or act as if it is the unpardonable sin.  But love on them, have a real, honest, heart deep conversation with your boys.  Be a safe place for your boys to fail, ask questions and wrestle.

Lesson #3…

“Bounce”: This is a lesson that I learned from the book, Every Man’s Battle.  The authors encourage men to practice the discipline of “bouncing” their eyes.  If your at the local water park, “bounce” your eyes from her scarcely covered boodie.  If your at church (so sad to say) and the “girls” are hanging out…”bounce” your eyes.  Dads, teach your boys this at a young age…I promise it will pay dividends.  You should consider checking out the book…

Lesson #2…

She Has A Dad: I think this convo should go something like this…  “Son, that young girl your lusting after…she has a dad, and his name is Jesus!!”  Dad’s, teach your boys to honor the daughters of God instead of lusting after the daughters of God.

Lesson #1…

Live It Out: Dad’s, you can’t teach what your not living out.  If you struggle with lust, masturbation, pornography or if your a sex addict please contact me HERE.  It is time for you to get help, and this is your chance to CHANCE HISTORY and REVERSE THE CURSE for your family.

At what age did you talk to your kids about masturbation?

What age is the best age to start discussing sex as an depth talk? My boys are 13 and 6, I have a 21 yo daughter and it was easier to talk to her about sex, but I’m struggling with how to speak biblically with my sons. I know 6 is too young and I want to make sure it is God centered for my 13 yo. Sex was never discussed in my house and I learned from very bad experiences as a young child.

I appreciate these post greatly, thank you for your transparency!
    In Christ,
    Cindy
