Don’t Be A “Wish I Would Of Parent”
Parents, a day is rapidly approach when…
- You won’t be able to pray with your kids on the car ride to school
- You won’t have anyone to watch the big game with
- Your kids’ will not want to crawl up in your lap anymore
- You will sleep in on Christmas Day because your kids don’t live at home anymore
- There are no car pools to participate in
- There are no smudges on the windows or crayon on the wall
- The lego’s are gone
- The homemade birthday cards stop coming
- You wish you had told them you loved them more
- You wish you had gone to more games
- You wish you had prioritized them over work
- You wish you had taken them on a regular date night
- You wished you were more fun
- You wished you had taken more family vacations
- You wished you had taken them out of school for lunch
- You wished you didn’t make such a big deal out of a little mistake
- You wished you had gotten them involved in church
- You wished you introduced them to Jesus
- You wished you prayed over them every night
- You won’t be able to kiss them good night
- You won’t be able to play in the rain with them
- You wished you had taught them how to work hard and get a job
- You wished you had protected their heart
- You wished you didn’t let them date so early
- You wished you disciplined out of love and not anger

Now that the guilt and trepidation is in full swing
let me say that I live being very aware of these times coming. As a matter of fact, I’ve already started brainwashing them with things like, “If you don’t move too far away I’ll watch your kids for free.” and “Even when you get old you’re still going to hug and kiss your mama right?” But in all seriousness right now it’s the taking more vacations that I wish we could do, with 4 kids, it’s just usually not in our budget and that’s one of the things I got to do often as a kid.
