Just Freakin Go Back & Dance!!
A couple of weeks ago Team Sprad watched the movie “Courageous”, and let me just say…
IT RUINED ME!!
I was laughing, crying, waving my Braveheart sword in the air, praying…did I already say crying!! Like ugly face crying.
Anyway…
DISCLAIMER: If you have not seen the movie, this is where you need to STOP reading because I am about to give one of the secrets away. Scroll straight to the bottom and you will have a chance to win your very own copy of “Courageous”.
So there is one point in the movie where one of the fathers is sitting in the bank parking lot, his daughter gets out of the car and starts dancing to her favorite song. As she is dancing, she glances up at her father and asks him to get out of the car and dance with her (IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!)
What did he do??
He declined. Too busy, too rushed…too embarrassed!!
A few short days later, his daughter died in a car crash.
This is where I absolutely lost it and went through an entire box of Kleenex!!
Several weeks after the death of his daughter he went back to the bank parking lot, played his daughters favorite song, hopped out of the truck and danced! He imagined his daughter was there and he was desperately wishing he could go back in time to have that dance.
Parents…
FREAKING GO BACK AND DANCE!!
What is that “1 thing” that you told your kids were too busy to do? What is that “1 activity” that you told your kids you will do tomorrow? What is that “1 game” you didn’t play because you had to do the dishes, send an email or make sure the house was immaculate.
Don’t find yourself wishing you could go back in time and have that dance.
Leave a comment and share the “1 thing” you need to go and do with your kids tonight? (mine is go into my sons room and play basketball on his closet goal)
I told him I would do it tomorrow, 2 weeks ago!!

I’m going to play a board game or Wii (they love Just Dance 3) with them tonight, whichever they want.
(I get RSS feeds. Is that OK?)
I should probably play Littlest Pet Shops with my sister soon.
And I know Courageous was so good, and soooo sad! Thanks for another great post!
My 1 thing is play legos with the youngest and play wii sports or chess with the oldest. Date nights with the boys for 1 on 1 time start next week!
We are baking cake pops tonight! They wanted to do it Wednesday but I put them off! Also, starting the 8 great dates with your daughter book!
That scene ripped something out of me. I’ve always been worried about being embarrassed by things and it has limited my joy. I had never went skating, until I was 37 and my daughter wanted to go. We went, looked foolish, and had a blast together. I’ll never forget it. This Friday night is the Daddy/Daughter dance night, and I declined last year. This year I will go, probably look foolish, but not miss an opportunity to make a memory with my beautiful, 10 year old daughter.
