MEET THE EPIC TOTS TEAM

EpicTots

Brace yourselves, folks, things are about to get real fun!  We’ve officially tricked Epic Parent into thinking we have it “all together” enough to blog about parenting little ones!  Ah, the early years. . .that magical time when our homes are attacked by pint size Tasmanian devils intent on uprooting peace and bringing chaos!

Life as we knew it before children is WRECKED. What is left behind is a wake of spiritual revelation in which we realize we need Him more than ever to make it out of this alive. Let’s face it parents, who’s actually prepared for the mountains that we must climb in the first few years of parenthood? The 236 questions before breakfast (and coffee!), the never-ending pee and poo splatters, the gross underestimation of how much physical and mental stamina will be needed to potty-train these monsters, and the overwhelming and all-consuming JOY that can be found in a single, solitary smile. We live this life everyday. And boy, are we excited to share all these stories of struggle and silliness with you!

My name is Michelle and I’ve been blogging about my journey through parental failure. . .errr, bliss for about a year now. You can check out my personal blog at www.missbananapants.com. I’ve consistently wrestled with maintaining my sanity while trying to use my daily mothering as my ministry. Setting a good example for them seems to take all of the fun out of “middle-aged” some days, but I press on. Along with trying to my darnedest not to ruin the lives of two toddler boys, I fill my time with writing (for my sanity), occassionally running (not away from anyone in particular),keeping the romance alive with my stud of a rockstar hubby, and struggling not to let my big mouth get me into mounds of trouble. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Christian counseling, but I’d trade it all in a heartbeat to be a full-time missionary in a third-world country. I’m a stay-at-home mom otherwise, making it my mission to entertain a three-year-old escape artist while my oldest is in kindergarten. Being a “mommy” of two little men is challenging, but it’s definitely the job that brings me the most joy (and grey hair!).

Hiya, My Name is Leanne Penny and I’m a coffee addict and the mother of two energetic and creative kids. I have a three year old daughter / lyricist named Noelle that loves kitties and turning our daily life into a musical. I also have a flirty, adorable one year old son named Caedmon who loves apples, his stuffed elephant and getting his way, or else.  In my extremely limited free time I love to write, read, drink coffee and undertake ridiculous craft projects I have no business doing. I’m originally from West Michigan but am currently living in small town Oklahoma with my Handsome college pastor Okie-husband, Kel.  Motherhood has changed me on every level. I have a C-section scar, bags under my eyes and a level of courage and tenacity I would never have found in any other profession.  Each day I’m challenged to serve myself less and my family more, they are on loan to me from God and I fumble to give them good gifts and just enough crazy to make them interesting.

I’m humbled to be on this journey with you friend, I’m looking forward to sharing parenting heartaches and triumphs, both the moments of unimaginable embarrassment and overwhelming joy.  Let’s do this thing!

If you’re on Facebook, let’s connect.  You can find me HERE.  You should also check out my personal blog at LeannePenny.com.

If you can’t tell, we are both BEYOND PUMPED to join the EP team and have an outlet for all of our “woe is me” moments of parenthood, learn God-size lessons from our tikes, and bask in the overall hilarity that fills our days parenting the younger generation.  We’d love to have your company, feedback, and hear some of YOUR stories along the way as well. Join us as we search for the humor in parenting, glean encouragement from community, and gain a Godly perspective on what it means to be an “Epic Parent”.

Don’t miss tomorrow’s first EpicTots post, “In Your Dreams, Mom“.

Glad you are excited, Codi! We are THRILLED that EP is catering to parents of EVERY age. Sometimes the early years can be the toughest. They can definitely be the most embarrassing, most frustrating, and most exhilerating, to say the least! Thanks for tagging along!!

Leanne isn’t lying when she says she loves to write & drink coffee! A co-worker and I were blessed enough to meet her today while working at the local coffee house. After noticing her cute outfit and fun personality we spoke for a few minutes and she told us about this website. Can’t wait to see more! Thanks, Leanne!

Savannah! Hi! You cracked me up at the coffee shop the other day, thanks for wanting to be friends and not thinking my crazy dancing/writing bit is worthy of committal.
