PARENTS!! WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WHEN YOU CAN’T DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST??

I recently talked with a friend who received some devastating news about his son’s sexual activity.  As you can imagine, he was broken, devastated, hurt, looking for answers and angry!

After we spoke I screamed out “God, where are you?”  He is a great father!  He is a true man of God!  He has raised his sons to be God fearing world changers!  Why don’t you just show up!!?!

But what happens when we cry out to God, when we plead our case, when we fight for our kids purity, when we love unconditionally, when we dive into Scripture, when we dive into our kids’ lives and God just doesn’t show up??

What do we do?

  1. HOLD YOUR KIDS LOOSELY:  We are our kiddos earthly parents, but we must remember that they have a Heavenly Father.  He loves them more than us, He cares about them more than us and He thinks about them more than we will ever know.  Mom and Dad, we must hold our kids loosely and trust our Heavenly Father to truly be their Father.
  2. PRAY YOUR GUTS OUT:  We must plead our case before our Heavenly Father.  We must pray without ceasing.  We must ask relatives to pray.  We must ask our friends to pray.  We must ask our church to pray.  As parents, we need to unleash an all out assault against the enemy, pray our guts out and trust our Heavenly Father to truly be their Father.
  3. BELIEVE:  As you study God’s Word…we are commanded to pray and believe.  So many of us pray, but few of us truly believe that the God of the universe will rise up and act!  Pray & BELIEVE.
  4. STEP INTO THE PAIN:  Having kids that walk away from Jesus just sucks.  There is no other way to say it!  As parents, we must not medicate, dive into addictions or withdraw in an attempt to deal with our pain.  We must step into the pain, sit in the pain and trust that God’s healing power will show up in our pain.

Have your kids walked away from Jesus?  If so, how did/have you handled it?  Please share your wisdom with other EpicParent.tv readers.
