Team Sprad has a ritual that we perform every morning on the way to school. We pray that God would whisper to our heart and show us the people that need to be lifted up and encouraged. This is not a casual, half- hearted prayer! This is a BOLD prayer of faith and we believe that God will send those our way that need love.
So last week, Tifton, came home from school and told me that he heard the voice of God whisper to him.
Our conversation went something like this…
Jackhammer: “Dad, while I was at school yesterday, I heard the voice of God whisper to me.”
Dad: “Oh yeah, what was He saying?”
Jackhammer: “There was a new kid that was sitting down during recess and he looked really sad. I walked up to him and asked him if he was ok and if he would like to play with me.”
Dad: “What did he say?”
Jackhammer: “He said no and he started crying, so I went to the teacher and she helped him. I could tell he was really sad. I just wish I could of made him feel better.”
Dad: “How did it make you feel to reach out to him?”
Jackhammer: “It was hard to talk to him. I was really afraid and scared, but I was glad I listened to God and talked to the boy.”
Dad: “I’m so proud of you for doing what God asked you to do! God will keep asking you to do scary things, but every time you think God is asking you to do something crazy, step into the fear and trust that God will help you do what he is asking.”
This is such a simple way that parents can lead their kids to hear the voice of God and make a difference in others’ lives.
I challenge all parents to start doing this with their kids before school and I would love to hear back from you on how God is speaking to your kids.
