THE KID EQUATION

I finally have it figured out!  I’ve been doing the math and after 13 years of parenting I have created the perfect equation for raising amazing kids!  I’ve never been a big fan of math (just ask my engineer dad:) but I promise you, if you do this I can guarantee great results!  Here it goes mom & dad…

Energy + Encouragement + Enthusiasm + Example +

Enlightenment + Emotion + Excitement + Effectiveness +

Endurance + Edification + Effort + Expectation +

Enablement + Eternity = REALLY GREAT KIDS!!

Ok, so I’m tired just looking at this list!  I am confident that God has a great plan for my kids.  I know He will equip me with everything I need to raise them.  I just wish that each of them came with instructions or an equation.  ‘One will be strong willed’, ‘one will be very sensitive’, ‘one will be high maintenance’, ‘one will be angelic like’, ‘one will obey’, ‘one will be stubborn’, and ‘one will’…. but each ‘one’ is unique, different, important, & special to God!  Look at what David says in Psalms!

Psalms 112:1-2

“Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord,

that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation

of the upright shall be blessed.” KJV

Psalms 112:2

 “Their children will be successful everywhere;

an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.” NLT

Wahoo!!!  My children, and your children, are going to bless generations of people!  We like to refer to them as world changers!  It’s true, so I need help!  Each child is so different and sometimes parenting just doesn’t add up.  What worked with one child will not work with the other child.  In my own natural, human ability, I am limited.  I have faults, insecurities, fears, and I am far from a perfect parent.  But… if I seek Him, read His word, pray, get wisdom from Him, teach my kids to seek Him and love His word – I just might have a chance!  I believe the Apostle John nailed the perfect equation for us….

John 3:30

He must become greater; I must become less. NIV

 John 3:30

He must increase, but I must decrease.

[He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.] AMP

HE > me…. HE > kids…. I must become less and God must grow more prominent in my life and in the life of my children!  His thoughts need to be stronger than my thoughts.  His plan for my children is greater than my plan.  His voice needs to be esteemed above my voice.  So here it goes…

Less of me + more of Him in my life + more of Him in my children =  REALLY GREAT KIDS!!

What is one God idea (equation;) that changed your parenting?

I so needed this today. I often try to manage, wrangle, manipulate my kids into great kids! And they are pretty great kids, but it’s been in spite of many of those things. I’m going to take your E’s and get busy!
